Address Book Enabler Support

If you have any problems with the Address Book Enabler there's a few things you can try which will help. The tips listed below have solved 100% of all issues reported so far.

Installation Issues

Error: "The Address Book application must be in your Applications folder."

The Address Book application must be in its default location which is the main Applications folder on the boot-up hard-disk. Apple applications should never be moved from their default locations. To rectify, simply move the Address Book application back into the main Applications folder and re-run the installer.

Error: "Your Address Book application does not have the required resources for installation."

The Address Book Enabler cannot currently be used on Mac OS X 10.5 because Apple has completely removed all Bluetooth functions from the Address Book application in 10.5. The Bluetooth button simply doesn't exist. Please send Apple feedback here and ask them to re-instate this feature.

SMS Message menu item greyed out

You must click the Bluetooth icon in the top-left of the Address Book window to connect to your phone. When connected the Bluetooth icon will be blue with a blue glow around it. See graphic >

No feedback on phone when sending SMS

This is correct. The phone does not show anything when sending SMS messages from the Mac Address Book.

SMSs not being sent

If there are too many SMSs stored in the phone memory or on the SIM card, it can prevent SMSs from being sent. To resolve this, simply delete some messages stored in the phone and on the SIM.

Sent SMSs are not saved in the phone

This is correct. The Apple Address Book does not support the saving, viewing, editing or any other operations on SMS messages stored on the phone.

Unable to send SMS or initiate calls from Address Book

If you are able to receive SMS and incoming calls, but not outgoing, close Address Book and open Apple's Disk Utility application, select your boot-up hard drive and click Repair Permissions.
